Driver Apprenticeship Scheme: On the Road to Success

The Firmin Driver Apprenticeship Scheme is designed to give a new generation of drivers the opportunity to build a career in Transport, whilst working towards attaining a vocational driving qualification.

Ideally aged 18 – 23, drivers on the apprenticeship programme will start out driving a van for our courier division, Firmin Xpress, so your journey really begins from day 1!  Not only will you benefit from hands-on experience and full training on your category B licence, you will also work towards achieving your vocational category C licence for class 2 vehicles.  Apprentices will also be required to regularly complete coursework for the nationally recognised Level 2 qualification in Driving Goods Vehicles.

To be considered, you will need a full, clean UK driving licence and a basic qualification in English and Maths.  We also ask that you are really driven, because in order to get the most out of the experience, you must be enthusiastic and willing to grab every opportunity that comes your way.

The programme offers an opportunity for full training, funding and support to those wanting to achieve a professional qualification and become fully licenced LGV Drivers.  For the right candidates who demonstrate a drive to succeed, there is the potential opportunity to progress even further and eventually work towards a category C+E licence for class 1 vehicles.
